East West is a community of learning, belonging and mutual respect.
Situated on the unceded land of the Wurundjeri People, we work towards understanding our place in the world and our responsibility to care for Country.

We are committed to providing an environment that is safe for all children in our care; we are dedicated to ensuring children’s well-being and preventing abuse in any form. By building strong relationships, we strive to empower children to be active in their own learning and development, to make decisions about things that affect them and to be able, and confident, to share any concerns they may have. We commit to the on-going education of our educators, children and families, working closely with Body Safety Australia, to ensure child safety is an embedded, on-going part of our day to day practice.

Our not-for-profit, community run childcare service is managed by a staff and parent volunteer committee and supported by The City of Yarra.

Family Grouping

It's all about relationships;
relationships grounded in mutual respect and a willingness to learn with and from each other. We understand that we all learn best when surrounded by people of all ages and abilities.

Governance & Management

We are a co-operative of parents and early childhood professionals with a focus on social and environmental justice, equity and inclusion, working together in the best interests of the children.

Kinder Blog

"Play, in the long run, is only play if it is self-chosen and self-directed. Children practice reasoning in their own ways, through their own self-chosen play; we can't do it for them and shouldn't try.
All we need to do..... is to provide places where children can play and explore safely and naturally,
with others in age-mixed groups. They will take care of the rest".
~ Peter Gray PhD

Play

Play is vital for children. Through play, babies
and young children learn to understand the world around them and their place in it. Play is education.
Play is learning. Play is everything.

Art

Art is a chance to express yourself, to try new things, to create and experiment and discover.
Art is a chance to just be.

Create

Creating is not just a 'nice' activity; it transforms, connects and empowers.

'Making' connects the hand, eye
and brain in a special way.
It's empowering.
