A Community Centre
As a community centre, East West is managed and run by both staff and parents, who work co-operatively to provide the highest possible standard of care and education. We understand that high quality education and care plays a pivotal role in the formative years of a child's growth and learning. As such we recognise the need for
both children and adults to learn and develop in an environment that is not only supportive and
caring but also challenging and creative. Our not-for-profit, community run childcare service is managed by a staff and parent volunteer committee and is supported by The City of Yarra.

All families attending East West are members of the Association. Members are warmly invited to attend the monthly committee meetings and are entitled to express their opinions on any aspect of the functioning of the centre. However, decision making rests with the Management Committee, in consultation with the staff
and broader membership.

which occurs around Easter time. All parents and staff are expected to attend the
A.G.M. the working bee and we also have several social events throughout the year,

East West employs a range of qualified and experienced teaching staff as well as an administrator. From the outset, we have firmly believed that to employ an experienced educator solely in the role of coordinator would not be the best possible use of resources, either human or financial. As such (currently) 4 qualified staff share the role of coordinator and all that it entails. The day to day operation of the centre is the responsibility of these
co-coordinators who work in consultation with the administrator. The teaching staff have regular designated hours and days which can be negotiated to best meet the working requirements of the centre and the children’s
ongoing need for continuity and emotional attachment.
